June 2019, Week 4
Peas, peas, and more peas! They're coming in fast this week, and they'll be gone before you know it. Now is the time to get this sweet summer treat, the first fresh green fruit of the year.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If your experience with peas has come out of a can or a freezer bag, you're in for a new perspective. These have more flavor, more subtlety, and a completely different texture for a veggie that's complex and crunchy. Delicious eaten raw, delicious cooked, and delicious blanched and frozen for later, the peas are waiting for you. Don't miss this once-a-year chance to add some peas to your plate!

Shelled Peas - one bagWe recommend blanching shelled peas in boiling water for just 90 seconds, then draining them and putting them in an ice water bath for a few minutes. Shake off any excess water and freeze your peas in a single layer for an hour. Then, store them in a freezer bag labeled with the date. Frozen peas will store for months, making it easy to pull out a bag or two whenever you need them for dinner.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
