Start a new fall family tradition at the Petersen Family Farm Pumpkin Patch. Under crisp October skies, make memories as you enjoy a tour of the farm on a wagon, roll in the corn pit, wander the beautifully decorated greenhouse, and even launch a few apples from the apple slingshot. For a blast from the past that you can take home with you, try out our old-fashioned popcorn crank: a hand-operated machine designed to separate the delicious kernels from the cob.
Of course, no visit to the Pumpkin Patch is complete without pumpkins. This isn’t your grocery-store bin of round orange squash. Instead, it’s a rainbow of colors and a spectrum of sizes. Find pumpkins of every conceivable kind: miniature to massive; short to tall; smooth or warty; and everyday orange to red, white, green, yellow, grey, or pink. We grow them on the Farm, so every year at harvest we have a huge variety, and do our best to keep the varieties harvested until the last week of the season. Grab a few pumpkins for carving, several for decorating the porch, one sugar pumpkin for a great seasonal dessert, and if you are lucky you might find the rare Great Pumpkins that are waiting to be discovered in the patch.
