TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Terms and Conditions
We, Petersen Family Farm, wish to share the simple beauty of the farm with you and you, the member, wish to be a part of the farm in a unique and intimate way. This agreement outlines our shared commitments to that relationship. By purchasing a Simple Share, you agree to these terms.
Section 1. Introducing Petersen Family Farm’s Simple Share
- Becoming a Part of Petersen Family Farm’s Simple Share
Families and households sign up to purchase a “share” of farm life. The Simple Share is a relationship between our farm and you as our neighbor and friend. Rather than simply purchasing food, our customers become “members” of a community of sharing, receive a portion of the farm’s harvest, and experience the miracle of agriculture with us!
Simple Shares are a monthly subscription. Members are responsible for visiting the farm on a designated day each week to pick up their share. Detailed information regarding pick-up is discussed below in Section 3. Variety and quantity may vary as described below in Section 2.
2. Our Growing Practices
We are proud of the significant efforts we employ to minimize our environmental footprint while balancing the need to be economically viable. We have achieved this balance using a sound and well-planned cropping system which we improve each year. For more about our growing practices, see our website.
3. The Weekly Share
Each week, members will receive a variety of fresh produce from the farm. The Petersen Family Farm 2017 growing season is expected to include some of the following:
Fresh Shelled Peas, Cabbage, Broccoli, Summer Squash, Onions, Garlic, Sweet Corn, Cucumber, Kale, Tomatoes, Red & Green Peppers, Hot Peppers, Beans, Potatoes, Eggplant, Leeks, Swiss Chard, Broccoli, Fresh Herbs, Watermelon, Honeydew, Cantaloupe and Cut Flowers. From farming friends: Raspberries, Peaches, Apples, Cherries, Pears.
Members will also receive a mix of raw and hand crafted items such as: cheese, meat, personal care products, eggs, jams, jellies, honey and any other number of small batch, curated goods from artisans we have come to trust.
Section 2. Picking-Up Shares
Members are responsible for picking-up their share each week on their selected day. Adhering to the following rules makes for an enjoyable visit to the farm each week:
- You may ONLY pick up on your designated day. If you are unable to pick-up on your designated day you MUST make arrangements in advance for a friend, a family member or a neighbor to pick up your share. If you fail to make arrangements in advance or forget your share pick-up, your share will be donated to a local food bank. Our shares are carefully planned for freshness and quality. We know it’s disappointing to forget but you can rest assured that your food was not wasted but enjoyed by someone in need.
- Each week Simple Share members will come to the farm for a “hands-on” experience with our land, farmers, and food.
- Shares are available ONLY on your pre-determined day between normal business hours, 9:00 am – 7:00 pm.
- Always respect the farm property, your fellow members, parking lot courtesy and safety.
- We take the safety of our produce seriously; most of which is freshly picked for members the morning of their pick-up day. For your added protection, wash all produce before use and keep products properly refrigerated or frozen as soon as possible.
Section 3. Our Shared Commitments
- Sharing in the Risk of Crop Failure
By selling membership in advance of the growing season, the Simple Share concept helps us to curate for you an unforgettable adventure with the land, food, and people. Your membership fees allow us the confidence and time to curate something we know you will love, designed to enhance your lifestyle, connection to the land, and the simple beauty of life. Our goal is to provide members with a bountiful share of the simple life each week. Although it rarely happens, the variety of produce may vary from week-to-week due to extreme weather, insects, or other production factors that happen despite our best efforts. By joining the Petersen Family Farm Simple Share and purchasing produce in advance, members agree to embrace the wildness of nature and to share some of the risk of crop failure with the farm. In the unlikely event of a crop failure we may need to supplement our planned crops with produce purchased from our peers in the local farming industry. We expect that members will always receive the full value of their share over the course of the season.
2. Sharing the fruits of agriculture
We believe that a membership in our Simple Share is one of the best ways to capture the complete value of the farm. By investing in advance, you sacrifice as we do and thus share with us the hope and anticipation of a fruitful harvest. When the produce is ready to eat you get it as fresh as if you had grown it yourself. You experience the farm consistently, week by week as you come to partake of the harvest. You become part of our family, getting to know us all week by week as the season progresses. You can ask questions, just visit, and enjoy the beauty of your investment growing in rows on our farm. We love our Simple Share members and consider them to be part of the farm family, sharing in the holistic experience of agriculture and small batch production. Stories and connections are what we believe make life beautiful.
Section 4. Member Fees
Full payment is required in advance to secure a share. Payment and sign-up is online only, with payments made using debit or credit cards (AMX, Discover, MasterCard & Visa). 50 shares are available each day Mon-Sat for a total of only 300 members. The Petersen Family Farm Simple Share is here to serve the community, and encourages you to share its bounty with friends, family, and neighbors. We will not facilitate any transfer of the share but it is our policy that anyone can pick-up a share for the registered shareholder. All payments and shares are non-refundable.
Monthly Payments, Cancellation:
Monthly shares are $150. Enrollment will roll over automatically from month to month. You may cancel at anytime in full month increments. Pick-up days are concrete. You may only pick-up on your day of the week as it falls into the month you purchased your Share. The Simple Share is designed as a monthly subscription with a long-term commitment. You are committed to a specific pick-up day. Given the fact that each month has a different number of days and weeks, some months you will have 4 pickup days and some months 5 pick-up days. This variability has been captured into the monthly rate. If you stay for multiple months, you will experience a weekly cost of around $35. If you stay only one month the weekly rate may be higher or lower based on how your pick-up day falls in the month.
The Simple Share enrollment/cancellation period is the 1st through the 21st of each month. Once your sign-up is completed online, enrollment is ensured for the upcoming month and no refunds or cancellations will be accepted. During the month of enrollment, Simple Share members wishing to cancel their subscription for the following month will need to cancel within the first 21 days of each month. This allows us a one week buffer at the end of each month where no enrollments or cancellations will be possible. This buffer week is essential for the farm team to procure and plan for the upcoming month, while still providing a fantastic share and excellent experience.
Section 5. Communicating With Us
We have cultivated a special team to handle all Simple Share communication. They can be e-mailed at SimpleShare@Petersenfarm.com. E-mails are the primary source of important information so it is important that the shareholders read them weekly. A Member of the Simple Share Care Team will also attend all pick-up days so you will have ample time to share questions, concerns, and the beauty of life.
By signing this agreement patrons agree to purchase the membership share and abide by the terms of this agreement. Members understand that, although unlikely, Petersen Family Farm may alter parts of this agreement related to production and distribution from time to time. Members understand that they will be contacted via email in advance of any changes to this agreement.
